The overwhelming feeling I had painting this work is ‘enjoy the colours’ as I just kept striving for a good depth of luminance with the layers of transparent and opaque paint and my constant quest for ‘edge’ with colour relationships.
The texture on the canvas adds another dimension to this artwork as the visual colour feast is enhanced by this tactility. I love touching my paintings to feel this ‘heartbeat of creation’ instilled through my efforts to produce a momentum that evokes emotions and is better for it existing where there was nothing before I started it.
My passion for an expressive non representational language makes this painting a prime example of my series the ‘Joy of Colour’ in which I revel in placing hues together to make me feel good. I hope this vibe transfers to anyone viewing my work.
